As summer fades and fall quickly approaches, it’s the time of year where we pack away those summer wardrobes and pull out the cozy sweaters and boots. This is a process I do with myself and my kids. It’s a great time to assess what works, what doesn’t, what needs to go, and what holes need to be filled. I have a few clients who have me do this each season so I thought I would share a little bit of my most recent session. Ashley is someone that I’ve worked with a coupe of times over the year and each time brings me so much joy. Her style is classic and modern with a little bit of sexy, so creating a winter capsule wardrobe for her is a lot of fun. When I initially created her mood board, I thought of her strolling through the streets of Barcelona, wearing neutrals and natural fabrics that fit her perfectly.

To create this winter capsule wardrobe, I first had Ashley send me some items she already owns. Since I worked with her in the spring, I knew of a couple of things like a denim jacket and some tan boots. I created a mood board for her and divided it into sections, one for spring and one for winter. I used Barcelona as my inspiration and a color palette that was full of neutrals. I added pops of green and blush to vary the color, and for this season, even added a pop of burgundy.

As always with this client, we focus on neutrals. Anytime I work with a capsule wardrobe, my focus is neutrals with pops of color, but this client also really loves neutrals, so it’s easy! We use a color palette of warm tones with pops of pink, green, and this season, a bit of burgundy. Again, I tried to keep styles classic and timeless so that she can wear them long term. I also mainly focused on stores that create clothes ethically like Everlane. Below are some of the items I suggested.

Things she already had include:

Blush Coat

Black Wool Jacket

Denim Jacket

Skinny Jeans in black and dark wash

Gray and Black Boots

Brown ankle booties

Classic White Tennis Shoes

The last step in the process was to style it all. With clients, I generally take pictures of each outfit and send them in a PDF file. Here are some of my favorite combinations.

If you click on a picture above, you can scroll through to see each outfit. We focused on fall vs winter, how to layer, date night vs running errands, and adding jewelry. We talked about shapes and color combinations, adding little details to outfits like tying the front of the shirt, or pinning the back of a denim jacket. We covered it all! And I feel like we came out with a beautiful wardrobe for fall/winter in Greenville.

I had so much fun styling Ashley. I love the hunt of finding items and the creativity of putting it all together. I am so grateful to my clients who trust me to dress them. If you are in need of my services, please feel free to reach out to me and ask about the various services I provide!
