One of the things that I’d really like to do here in this blog is show you how I style things and make a capsule wardrobe work. What really makes or breaks an outfit are the accessories that you add, the way you style your hair, and of course, makeup. It may seem intimidating, but honestly, it’s not hard once you get a few things like jackets, scarves, and jewelry. Here’s how I took one simple black jumper from Madewell, and styled it for a day with the kids, or an evening with the spouse.

Look #1 – Day
denim vest Gap / jumper Madewell / shoes Nine West
To make this look more comfortable and casual, I went with a denim vest. I feel like denim is so easy to add and it gives the outfit a little bit of character. You don’t have to have anything fancy, just a cute denim vest or jacket and you’ve instantly added style for a casual look. Gladiator sandals are comfy and again, look more put together than a pair of flip flops.
Jewelry is up to you, it’s such a personal thing. That’s great because you can add pretty much anything and it will look good. Sarah (my gorgeous neighbor) had on a bracelet from one of those multi level marketing companies, I can’t remember the name, a mala made my Jeanne Castor (she hand makes them so if you’re interested, email me and I’ll get you in touch with her), and a silver bracelet I got somewhere along the way. She also has on a pair of earrings I bought from a local jewelry artist, Grit Goods Jewelry (see link above).
Look #2 – Date Night
Date night with the husband is always fun. And honestly, I like getting dressed up, but we’re in Greenville and there’s not a ton of places where you’re going to be full on and fit right in. Most people dine out in Southern Tide shirts and Rainbows. Plus, who has time to spend getting ready when our kids are probably flushing our new makeup brushes down the toilet, am I right? So just take your jumper, add some different accessories, add a bold lip and BAM, you’re ready to go before the first flush is made.
These heels from Nine West are super comfy and they add a little bit of fancy :).
I added some gold jewelry, and by gold I mean, gold colored. I got this Owl necklace from Old Navy, and the earrings from one of those multi level marketing companies. The bracelet I bought from a woman who made African jewelry in Charleston. It’s one of my favorites and I wish I knew how to find her again!
Watch for next week, when I talk about a couple of looks for date night.
As always, thanks for reading. Please feel free to comment! I love to hear your thoughts.
