I’m not going to do a ton of gift guides but I thought one focused on jewelry by small businesses would be fun. There are so many really fun and funky shops out there, and as I made a list for my mom for christmas, I thought I would share some of the ones that I thought were the best. Most of these are from either small, women owned businesses or companies that are dedicated to fair trade and ethical practices. In 2020, I intend to continue to focus more on those types of products because I want to be more conscious in my shopping. And really, when you take a step back from all the huge stores and look at the smaller ones, there are some REALLY cool pieces out there.

Willowvane

I think I came across this company on Instagram and I am so glad I did. They are a small company based out of NC and they make handmade products out of ceramic. Though you have to hand wash the mugs, the little fun abstract shapes and 22k gold accents speak to me on so many levels and I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT. Mom said, “you already have 10 mugs” and I said, “yes, but are they handmade and have 22k gold on them, no”. She raised me to be this way.

Spectrum Handcrafted

I recommend this company to all of my clients because I absolutely love her aesthetic. Her necklaces are beautiful and unique. I put a couple of them on my own Christmas list.

Sseko Designs

This is a company based out of Uganda. They provide work for young women transitioning into university and help the raise funds to attend university. You can read more about what they do here. They have beautiful bags, shoes, and jewelry.

Dear Survivor

A friend of mine just told me about this company. They use recycled goods as well as offer opportunities for workers in the CA area. And their designs are amazingly beautiful.

Sedona Moon

I actually don’t know a lot about this company or how I even came upon them. There is not really an about page and though I follow their Instagram, there isn’t a lot beyond pictures of the jewelry. But the jewelry is absolutely beautiful and I have wanted a pair for a long time. I had to add them to this list.

I hope this was helpful for you. I think finding unexpected, cute items makes gift giving a lot of fun. And again, any time I can support a small business or a business with ethical practices, I am down. Thanks for reading!
